Board of Health approves septic permit extensions and setback variances

STERLING — Board of Health approves construction permit extensions and septic variances. The Sterling Board of Health unanimously extended two construction permits, 2023-27 for 71 Maple Street and 2023-28 for 27 Chamberlain Road, each for one year. In a pair of split votes, the board approved a Local Upgrade Approval for 14 School Street reducing required setbacks from cellar wall and bordering wetlands (Vote: 2-0-1 abstain), and a Title 5 variance for 31 Gibbons Drive permitting septic tank replacement with reduced water and wetland setbacks (Vote: 2-0-1 abstain).
The board also submitted no comment on a 39 Jewett Road zoning variance and discussed interim coverage for the open Health Agent position.
