DPW approves December minutes; water rate increase discussed preliminarily.

STERLING — The Sterling Department of Public Works Board approved its prior minutes and received a preliminary water rate discussion. Chairman Blaine Bershad and members Andrew Parker, Deane Day, Ryan Mouradian, Paul Gerardi, Mike Tomaiolo, and Susan Genereux were present. The board praised transparent budget reporting; the DPW and Water budgets track on schedule through Warrant 14.
Ryan Mouradian presented FY27 water rate increase ideas for board input. Major projects include a new DPW facility building, Swett Hill Drainage bidding, cemetery expansion studies, and PFAS testing, bolstered by an additional $238,000 in settlement funds bringing reserves above $600,000. The Superintendent reported 16 snow and ice events this season with salt use below historical averages.
