DPW Facility Committee advances $25M new building to May Town Meeting.

DPW Facility Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026

Sterling DPW Facility Committee unanimously advanced a $25 million public works facility to May Town Meeting. The project, which includes a new DPW building, salt shed, fuel island, and infrastructure, represents a 25 percent reduction in scope from the original plan; the committee noted that rehabilitation of the existing facility was explored but projected to cost nearly as much with no gain in square footage. The committee scheduled tours of both the current and a comparable new facility in Holden for March 19 and approved a public outreach strategy including open houses on April 29 and 30.

Next meeting is April 1.
