Finance and Capital Budget committees hear Fire, DPW budgets at January hearing
Capital Budget Committee · Meeting of January 29, 2026
STERLING — Finance and Capital Budget committees heard two major budget presentations. Lt. Tom Kokernak presented the Fire & Ambulance operating budget of $2,103,241--a 0.58 percent increase--and a $28,600 capital request for a replacement CPR machine, noting the department handled 2,051 calls in 2025 despite staffing shortages that required overtime.
DPW Superintendent Ryan Mouradian requested $2,588,303 in operating funds and $667,000 in capital, including design costs for the Route 62 and Route 140 intersection project and replacement of a 126-year-old cemetery wall. Both presentations concluded with committee thanks for fiscal responsibility.
