Sterling Finance Committee hears FY2027 budget presentations from five departments totaling $8.7 million in operating funds. Town Administrator Bill Caldwell outlined a $4.4 million budget with insurance and benefits at $2.9 million, representing an 11 percent increase; Police Chief Sean Gaudette presented a $2.5 million budget with $185,880 in capital requests including vehicles and building renovations; and Council on Aging Director Sheila Beane highlighted 156 volunteers providing over $300,000 in in-kind annual services to support the town's growing senior population, with 29 percent of Sterling residents over age 60.
