Finance Committee reviews school assessment, approves capital funding plan.

Finance Committee · Meeting of February 26, 2026

STERLING — Finance Committee approves 3.7 million capital funding plan for fiscal 2027. Chair Joseph King and the committee, meeting jointly with the Capital Budget Committee, backed allocations across municipal priorities: $315 thousand for a DPW truck through debt exclusion, $881.5 thousand for roads and sidewalks, $300 thousand for Fire Public Safety Communications, and $135 thousand for Houghton School communication upgrades. The overall town budget is projected to rise just under 2.5 percent, with a 2.4 percent Wachusett Regional School District assessment increase driven partly by the district's shift of $1 million in excess funds to operating budget.
