Sterling's Open Space Implementation Committee unanimously accepted an interim update to the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan after the originally assigned preparer, Steve Wallace, accepted a town planner position in Lunenburg. Chair Chuck Plaisted reported the MassTrails Grant Application for the Waushacum Meadow Loop Trail is substantially complete and targets a February 3 submission deadline, requesting $65,500 from the Commonwealth toward the estimated $110,000 total cost of the 2,300-foot ADA-compliant trail. The committee also tasked members with evaluating conservation properties as homework before the February 18 meeting to help prioritize chapterlands for Select Board recommendation.
