Planning Board advances zoning amendments, withdraws Compact Overlay District.
Planning Board · Meeting of March 12, 2026
Sterling Planning Board advances six zoning amendments, withdraws Compact Overlay District. Chairman Carl Corrinne and the four-member board voted unanimously to recommend the amendments for the 2026 Annual Town Meeting after a public hearing marked by citizen concern over a proposed Senior Housing Bylaw. The Zoning Board of Appeals, represented by Chairman Patrick Fox, opposed the Senior Housing Bylaw as drafted, citing insufficient public input and inflexible density standards, though the ZBA endorsed the Inclusionary Zoning proposal.
The Planning Board amended the Senior Housing Bylaw by removing a basement floor restriction and clarifying that roadway infrastructure would remain private.
