Sterling Select Board approves Cub Scout beach campout, rejects liquor pilot. Cub Scout Pack 34 received unanimous approval to camp at the town beach on June 13, pending receipt of an insurance certificate; the event will host nine families with first and fourth grade children. Chair Maureen Cranson and the board unanimously rejected state legislation that would have allowed municipalities to extend liquor license hours in designated summer districts, concluding the pilot program would not benefit the town.
Discussion of zoning enforcement tensions resulted in a recommendation by Select Board member Kirsten Newman to establish a By-Law Rules & Regulations Committee for a comprehensive bylaw review.
