Sterling Select Board appoints Joseph Nason to interim Light Board term. Nason, who has 20 years of experience in the electric industry with National Grid, was selected from three candidates in a joint meeting with the Light Board; the vote was unanimous across both boards. The board also unanimously approved eight separate actions: a storage shed request and permit fee waiver for the Sterling Girls Softball Association (contingent on DPW approval), appointments of Whitney Weymouth to the Housing Authority Tenant Board, David Shnaider to the Cultural Council, and Chair Kirsten Newman to the MWRA PILOT Committee, a letter of support for an Open Space grant, authorization to negotiate a new Fire union contract ahead of the June 30, 2026 expiration, and proposed zoning bylaw amendments for Planning Board public hearings.
Town Treasurer Victoria Smith announced her intention to retire in late fall or year-end after 36 years in municipal service.
