Sterling Select Board schedules spring cleanup, approves scholarship awards. Chair Kirsten Newman and the board unanimously approved three $700 scholarships drawn from the Maria Houghton and Iacobucci funds and scheduled the town-wide spring cleanup for Saturday, April 18, 2026. Town Administrator Bill Caldwell reported the FY 27 budget is tracking a 2.2 percent increase overall, with health insurance at 2.9 percent and Wachusett Regional up 1.9 percent, though the board deferred a final two or three percent increase decision pending additional Friday insurance information.
Residents Jean and Tom Brown requested the board consider a bylaw prohibiting the feeding of wild animals after a turkey fed by neighbors near Muddy Pond created safety concerns.
