Zoning board backs senior housing concept but rejects current bylaw language.

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of March 10, 2026

STERLING — Zoning Board of Appeals endorses senior housing as policy but rejects Planning Board bylaw draft. The board, led by Chairman Patrick Fox, voted unanimously to recommend support of the senior housing concept while declining to back the current bylaw language, citing unresolved concerns about special-permit authority and setback requirements. The ZBA separately voted unanimously to file a citizen's petition for inclusionary zoning; Fox is spearheading that effort ahead of the upcoming town meeting.

The board approved all other Planning Board amendments as presented.
